We would rather be blunt here than have you disappointed when the parcel opens.

It is imitation jewellery

Every piece on this site is brass, plated in a gold or oxidised silver finish.

  • It is not solid gold, not gold-filled, and not silver.
  • It carries no hallmark, because there is nothing to hallmark.
  • It has no resale or investment value. Buy it to wear, not to keep.

The stones are not precious

Where a piece is described as having stones, those are glass, resin, cubic zirconia or imitation kundan. Nothing here contains a diamond, a ruby, an emerald, a sapphire or a real pearl, whatever the design is imitating.

We use words like kundan, temple, polki, American diamond and pearl because those are the names of the styles. They describe what a piece looks like, not what it is made of.

The finish wears

Plating is a coating, and coatings come off. Perfume, sweat, water, hairspray and friction all take it off faster.

Regular wear will show wear and tear, starting at the contact points. How soon depends entirely on how a piece is worn and stored, and it varies too much between people for us to put a figure on it — so we do not, and we give no warranty on finish. Our Care guide is the best way to make it last.

Photographs and descriptions

Photographs are taken in daylight against a plain ground. Jewellery photographs brighter than it wears, and colours vary between screens.

Measurements and weights are accurate to within normal manufacturing tolerance and may vary slightly between batches. Stone placement varies a little on handmade pieces. If exact dimensions matter to you, ask us before ordering and we will measure the actual piece.

Product names

Names describe a style, not an origin, a maker or a brand. Nothing here is affiliated with, or endorsed by, any jeweller, designer or house whose style a piece may resemble.

Skin and allergies

Posts and hooks are nickel-free. The rest of the piece is plated brass, and some people react to plated metals regardless. If you have sensitive skin, patch-test before wearing anything for a full day. We cannot accept responsibility for a reaction.

Not advice

Nothing on this site is professional advice of any kind — including anything on the Care guide, which is what has worked for us and our customers, not a specification.

Our full terms are on Terms & conditions.
